Advocate Training
This course provides advocates with a basic understanding of the range of
learning difficulties and how they affect children at home, in the
classroom and in ordinary social circumstances. The trainers, who are
highly trained advocates of children with learning difficulties, provide
a variety of techniques that can be used to communicate more
effectively with children with learning difficulties, provide structure in the home
and classroom, and
improve the home-school network. Advocates are also taught techniques that
can be used to successfully advocate on behalf of children with
learning difficulties.
Offered: Beginning in September 2007 in English, Greek and Turkish.
Teacher Training
This course provides ordinary classroom teachers with a basic
understanding of the range of learning difficulties and how they affect
children’s ability to focus and learn in the ordinary classroom. The
trainers, who are special education experts, explain and demonstrate a
full range of practical techniques that can be used in the classroom.
Offered: Beginning in September 2007 in English, Greek and Turkish.
Train the Advocate Trainers
This course is designed for individuals who wish to become advocates for the
learning difficulties community. Over the course of 10 hours, parents
learn about the full range of learning difficulties, including
definitions, characteristics, causes, impact on development, and
strategies/techniques for managing the conditions. Advocates are also
taught how to communicate effectively with parents, teachers,
physicians and specialists, as well as policy makers. Advocates who take
this course must commit to train at least 10 other. Training
manuals will be provided.

Train the Teacher Trainers
This course is designed for special education experts who are in the
position to train and/or mentor ordinary classroom teachers. Over the
course of 25 hours, through a combination of lectures and workshops, the
teachers will learn about and practice a variety of techniques that
can be used effectively in the ordinary classroom. Teachers who take
this course must commit to train at least 10 other teachers. Training
manuals will be provided.
